The Weston DPW Water Division will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the Town beginning Monday, April 4th and continuing through June of 2016. The purpose of flushing hydrants is to remove sediment buildup in the mains, which if left in the water main over time could cause taste, odor and turbidity problems to consumers. The flushing may result in temporary discoloration of the water, caused by small particles dislodged during the flushing. Discoloration might stain your laundry, especially white materials.
To help avoid staining your laundry, we recommend you check the water for possible discoloration during periods of flushing, (8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.). If the water is discolored, let the cold water run for a minute or two, or until the water clears.
Hydrant flushing will be performed on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. starting from the south side of Town, working towards the north. A map of the town's hydrants and a schedule for flushing is available by clicking on the map to the right.
