The Town of Weston is seeking an interested resident to serve on the Historical Commission. The Commission is made up of seven members who meet in the evening once every three to four weeks. Additional time is frequently required for project work, site walks and coordination with other Town committees.
Ongoing activities of the Historical Commission include administering the Town’s Demolition Delay By-law, overseeing Community Preservation Act-funded projects for restoration of historic Town buildings and sites, administering preservation restrictions on individual properties, preparing studies of individual homes and neighborhoods, reviewing applications for historic home markers, and sponsoring lectures and other educational sessions. Weston residents with expertise in architecture, design, and history are encouraged to apply for the opening. Experience with reading architectural plans and familiarity with architectural styles is required. For those interested in the Commission’s work but lacking the time required for full membership, the Commission can also use volunteers to help with individual projects.
