There are common household items that contain mercury, such as CFL light bulbs, button batteries, and old thermostats. These items should be disposed of and recycled properly and not tossed in with household trash because mercury is harmful to the environment. Weston's Transfer Station takes these items and more. The designated carts are located next to the solid waste compactors. You can also ask an attendant if you are unsure if the item contains mercury.
Learn more from Weston's Transfer Station Supervisor John Zaccardi on how easy it is to recycle and how much can be recycled at Weston's Transfer Station. Please take a few moments to separate all your recyclables from the trash. By keeping recyclables out of the solid waste compactors, we can save our natural resources, protect the environment, and help keep the permit fee cost from increasing.
