Board of the Council on Aging

The Town of Weston has two vacancies on the Board of the Council on Aging (COA). The 13-member Board, appointed by the Board of Selectmen, meets at 8:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month to determine policy regarding public awareness of COA programs, intergenerational programming, support for caregivers and increased opportunities for social interaction.

The number of Weston residents, over age 60, is approaching 30%. Weston’s active, engaged COA serves a diverse population, with information and referrals concerning mental and physical health, housing, health insurance, in-home assistance, and computer tutoring.  COA services include transportation to medical appointments, low-cost taxi and van transportation, a medical loan closet, a food pantry and a wide variety of other programs to serve the needs of older adults.  The COA also offers exercise programs, numerous trips, entertainment, and intellectually stimulating programs.  Numerous volunteers supplement the work of the COA staff.

Become more involved in the Weston community.  Join an energetic, active, committed Board.  Residents of all ages with an interest in issues involving older adults are invited to apply.
