The Sustainability Committee is charged by the Select Board with ensuring that sustainability issues and opportunities in Weston are proactively managed, and with recommending, developing and monitoring programs designed to enhance Weston’s long-term sustainability and resilience in response to environmental, resource, and energy challenges.
The following projects are currently actively pursued by the Committee:
The Green Communities Division of the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources provides grants and technical assistance to help municipalities reduce energy use and costs.
Weston was awarded a state grant to help Town Officials plan for climate change resiliency and implementing priority projects.
The Town of Weston is taking bold action in the face of the climate crisis by creating a Climate Action and Resilience Plan. The Town has already experienced the impacts of a changing climate to a certain degree and these changes are only going to increase. The Plan will be developed over the course of a year and will focus on enhancing our community resilience to these hazards and others. Learn more about it here and ways you can get involved.
