Weston Veterans Memorial Education Fund

The Town Moderator is seeking a Weston High School graduate to serve on the Weston Veterans Memorial Educational Fund Committee.

The Weston Veterans Memorial Education Fund was established by vote of the 1953 Annual Town Meeting in honor of those who have served our country. The fund provides financial assistance for higher education to members of the Weston High School graduating class. Awards are based on need, personal character and scholastic ability. Recipients are either residents of the town, members of the METCO program, or children of school employees.

A committee was also established to conduct an annual appeal and distribute the scholarships. The committee consists of five citizens of the town, two of whom are graduates of Weston High School, one the principal of the high school or a faculty member, and one a veteran. The committee meets three times a year and members are appointed by the Moderator for a term of five years. The Moderator is currently seeking one person to fill a vacancy. Residents interested in serving on this committee may respond directly to Moderator[at]westonmass.org by April 30th.
