Veterans' Services

Veterans’ Services programs are mandated in accordance with Massachusetts General Law and are administered under state guidelines to provide information, advice and assistance regarding benefits to veterans and their families. Requests are as diverse as burial markers, lost documents, replacement medals and information regarding benefits for veterans.

The Town received notice from our Veteran Service Officer that she will no longer be able to perform VSO duties on behalf of the Town effective immediately.  The Town is currently working with the West Suburban Veterans’ District, of which Weston is a member, to find a VSO replacement.  In the interim, there may be a delay in responding to inquiries until a new VSO is recruited.  We are sorry for any inconvenience. Nursing Home Care

VA benefits provide for a range of long-term services which include:

  • Adult Day Care
  • Domiciliary Care
  • Geriatric Evaluation
  • Nursing Home Care
  • Respite Care

Nursing home benefits may be provided for a service-connected condition or if the veteran has a service-connected disability rating of 70% or more. These veterans are eligible for admission to extended care services and indefinite care in a VA nursing home. Veterans may be discharged from nursing home care when it is no longer needed, i.e., if the needs can be met at home or in a private nursing home closer to the family.
