The Eagle has Landed at the Spellman

Friday, July 19, 2019

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon, a special exhibit featuring stamps about space exploration and the moon landing plus related space artifacts has been assembled in an exhibit entitled “The Eagle Has Landed.” Prepared by Curator George Norton, the exhibit will trace the history of the preparation for the moon landing displaying all the stamps that have celebrated the various accomplishments of NASA over the past 70 years. Included is a first day cover signed by Neil Armstrong, the first air mail letter from outer space, some rocket mail, and covers signed by stamp designers Paul and Chris Calle. Images of some of the stamps in the exhibit are on the Museum’s website.
