Thursday, January 28, 2021
Enhance your appreciation of dance as an exciting and ever-changing performance art in this presentation by dancer, choreographer, and UMass instructor, Kelley Donovan. Develop an overall familiarity with dance as a contemporary art form. Enlarge your critical perspective by learning about dance, comparing points of view of major choreographers, and considering their particular contributions. We will explore many 20th century choreographers/significant dance figures including: Isadora Duncan, Nijinsky, Ballet Russe, Balanchine, Ruth St. Denis, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Katherine Dunham, Mark Morris, Alvin Ailey, Twyla Tharp and Judson Church. This event, sponsored by the COA and AIC, is free and open to the public.
