Annual Hydrant Flushing Program

flushbutton.jpg

The Water Division of the Weston Department of Public Works will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the Town starting in April and continuing through the month of June. The purpose of flushing hydrants is to remove sediment buildup in the water mains, which if left in the main over time could cause taste, odor and turbidity problems to consumers.

Hydrant flushing may result in a temporary discoloration of the water that is caused by small particles that are dislodged during the flushing. This discoloration may stain your laundry, especially white materials. To avoid possibly staining your laundry, let the cold water run for a minute or two or until the water clears.

Hydrant flushing will be performed on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. starting from the south side of town and working towards the north side. If you would like additional information, including the program map and schedule, visit the DPW website at www.weston.org/DPW or call the Department of Public Works Office at 781-786-5100.
