This year, the Public Works Department will not be mailing the Transfer Station Permit application packet to every household. By eliminating this annual town-wide mailing, Weston will be reducing its carbon footprint, saving tax-payer dollars, and reducing the amount of paper used and tossed away.
The application and traditional mailing documents can be viewed and downloaded at www.weston.org/TransferStation. The same papers can be picked up at the Council on Aging or the Weston Public Library, as well. The completed application can be dropped in the mail or brought to the Treasurer/Collector's Office at Town Hall. If you would you prefer to have the application mailed to you, please call 781-786-5100 to make the request.
Did you know, you can renew your transfer station permit online? If you have the same vehicle as last year, visit www.weston.org/TSPermits to find the 2019/2020 rates and the online renewal portal. Using an electronic check will not incur any credit card fees. The online renewal option is not available for households wanting a permit for a new vehicle.
If you have never used Weston's Transfer Station, you should check it out. The Transfer Station accepts so many items for recycling - from plastics and cardboard to electronics and textiles. See www.weston.org/Recycle for the full list of accepted items. If you are just looking for a place to recycle, a Recycle Only permit is available. See www.weston.org/TransferStation for additional information.
Reducing the average tonnage of household solid waste is a priority and the Selectmen encourage residents to challenge themselves to reduce their household solid waste by keeping more out of the trash bag. Refer to www.weston.org/RSW to learn the how, why, and the where.
