Residents Encouraged to Take Precautions
With the record rainfall comes an increased risk level for mosquito-borne illnesses. Several surrounding communities have mosquito samples that have tested positive for the West Nile Virus (WNV) and the Department of Public Health is expecting the abundance levels to increase in the coming weeks.
Currently, several communities within greater Boston, including Waltham and Newton, are listed in a moderate level for WNV. Weston remains low for WNV risk; however, residents should take precautions now against the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses.
