Paving and Roadwork

• Newton Street drainage design work nearing completion and Fairview / Montvale roads drainage construction work will take place before roadway reconstruction does next spring / summer; 
• DPW continues to work on drainage designs and obtaining necessary easements before roadway work can be planned on Newton Street

• Fairview / Montvale roads drainage design work complete

State/Utility Project Work

• Route 30 (South Avenue) and Wellesley Street Signal Improvement Project - final landscaping and final cleanup outstanding.  MassDOT and its contractor are non-committal with schedule to complete;
• National Grid’s gas relay projects - Church Street at/about Pigeon Hill Road (project currently on hold)
• Continuing to coordinate with Eversource on a number of outstanding issues in Town including double poles, poles guyed into trees, leaning poles and pole guyed with rope (Merriam Street), Hazard trees at/near power lines, etc.

• Wellesley Street including Bass Pond Road (Rockport Road to town line) – National Grid will final trench pave at the end of May/beginning of June 2018;  
• Conant Road / Colchester Road – National Grid is working remaining services and tie over, then will final trench pave at the end of May/beginning of June 2018;   
• Glen Road (Wellesley Street to Cliff Road intersection plus or minus) gas main replacement  anticipated to start March 2018

Ongoing Projects

• Black Oak Pump Station Project – Town Engineer  working on easement document.  Town Engineer working with Eversource and property owner to address some/all pole concerns; 
• Southside Drainage Project - continuing to work with consultant and attempting to secure the necessary easements for Phase 2 of the project.  Once completed, the permitting will be conducted with construction anticipated for spring 2018.  Town Engineer working on securing necessary easements.  Conservation Commission meeting upon receipt of all Phase II easement will be next action item

• Cooks Pond Dam and Pump Rehabilitation Project - overseeing consultants’ work,  bid opening occurred on February 15th, Engineering is advancing award of contract and execution of contract, then a pre-construction meeting will be held;
• Paines Hill Water Tank Improvement Project - bid opening occurred on February 8th. Engineering is advancing award and execution of contract, then a pre-construction meeting will be held;
• FY 2018 Water Main Improvements (Columbine, Dean with Chiltern as add alternate).  Engineering advancing award and execution of contract, then a pre-construction meeting will be held

Consultant Work

• Overseeing consultants’ work on several sidewalk design projects - plans available for viewing online. 
  • Warren Avenue Sidewalk Project - DPW has reached out to an impacted abutter from whom an easement is required;
  • Merriam Street Sidewalk Project - several easement issues remain. Met with Planning Board (January 31st) and Conservation Commission (January 23rd- continued).  Several site walks have taken place.
• Overseeing consultant design work for drainage work for construction season 2016 (Newton Street, Merriam Street, and Fairview/Montvale roads area).  Continue to attempt to secure required easements on Newton Street;  
• Town Center Improvement Project - Overseeing consultant concept / design work. Consultant awaiting design decisions from the Town Center Planning Committee on intersection at Boston Post Road/Church Street/School Street;  Preliminary Eversource meeting occurred on February 6th with a follow-up meeting schedule within next 4 weeks.  Preliminary plans anticipated at beginning of April 2018;
• Overseeing consultant work on setting up RFPs for Wireless Meter Reading, meter replacements and meter installation (approximately 1700) - four proposals received, which will be evaluated. Anticipated completion on/before February 16th. Prepping a shortlist of contract vendors is ongoing; 
• Overseeing consultant design and permitting for Concord Road Culvert replacement which has impacts on the Warren Avenue and Merriam Street culverts.  Design ongoing.

• Design work completed for drainage work at Fairview and Montvale roads area.  Annual drainage contract bid opening occurred on February 22nd and Engineering is advancing award and execution of contract, then a pre-construction meeting will be held;

Engineering

• Completed the in-house design for Water Main Replacements at Columbine and Dean roads.  Award of contract issued;
• Currently reviewing 10 Stormwater Permits;
• Currently issued 50 Stormwater permits which also requires construction inspection

Park and Cemetery Division

• Assisted the Transfer Station with push downs on bins with backhoe as necessary;
• Cleaned and serviced equipment;
• Assisted Solid Waste & Recycling Division with solid waste and recycling pick-up from municipal buildings;
• Cleared leaves from Farmers' Burial Ground, Central Cemetery, Soldier’s Park, and other Parks and Cemetery locations;
• Removed Christmas ornaments from around Linwood Cemetery;
• Picked up fallen branches from the storm on March 2nd

Highway/Stormwater Division

• Hot patching potholes: Cherry Brook Road, Ridgeway Road, Stony Brook, and Round Hill Road;
• Skin Overlay degraded roadway surfaces:  Newton Street, Ash Street, Woodridge Road, and Summer Street;
• Repair Driveway Surface:  Woodridge Road;
• Traffic signage and maintenance repairs: various;
• Oversee tree removal contractor:  Ash Street, South Avenue, Chiltern Road at Ridgeway, Ash Street at Idlewile Road;
• Checked and cleared waterways and trouble basins for anticipated storm;
• Cleaned and serviced all deicing equipment and plows:  Serviced and prepped for weekend response if needed;
• Respond to miscellaneous calls for service:  roadside litter and objects in roadway, illegal sign removal;
• Inspect and/or as necessary all mailbox call locations:  all outstanding locations;
• Nor’easter storm:  respond to multiple tree calls (60+), flooding calls, traffic detours because of downed wires, etc. – 3/2/18-3/3/18
