  1. Sustainable Weston: Town Clean Up

    April 23, 2018, All Day @ all 128 miles of road, fields and trails

    A week-long effort for all, by all, who wish to participate in keeping our community green and clean. Pick up a small section of your street with a pledge to fill "just one bag-full" or join a group event to work together with your neighborhood, sports team, school or church friends. Find instructions and group postings for different times and locations on Sustainable Weston Facebook page (link below). Share your success with a picture online via email and/or bring your collected trash to the Sustainable Weston table at the Town Annual Spring Fling.

  1. Signing Circle For Babies!

    Sign language is great to learn for all ages. It helps babies communicate, and it enhances early literacy skills for verbal children as well! In this program, your child will learn sign language through songs, stories, games, play and more. Benefits for babies: Reduces Frustration for everyone Gives babies the ability to express themselves before they can speak Accelerates babies development of speech Enhances early literacy skills Deepens bonding There will be no session on Patriots Day, April 16th Sheryl White of Baby Kneads has been teaching programs and working with families for 17 years. She is a Certified Educator of Infant Massage, Baby Signer, Reiki Master and mother of three. Her role in these classes is to facilitate and help strengthen the connection between infant and caregiver through early communication.

  2. Mindfulness Class for Children and Parents

    For kids Mindfulness means paying attention to what is happening right now with kindness and help relax, focus and have fun. Benefits can include an increase in attention span, focus, and concentration, better relationships with parents and peers, good self esteem, better sleep habits, and less stress, anxiety, and depression; all of which can lead to better emotion regulation, self monitoring and self control. In this class, the emphasis is on engaging the children's senses through activities. Sheryl comes prepared with a bag of sensory props and uses different objects to engage and help the children practice how to be more in the present moment. It is the awareness that is created during the activity that is beneficial, not the activity itself. When you notice what is happening around you, you focus more deeply, and that attention to your own senses will help you improve your life.
