More than any other art form, opera is meant to appeal directly to the senses. All you need are eyes, ears, and a soul to appreciate opera. Carmen, the most famous of Bizet's operas, with its exotic Spanish setting, introduced a note of realism into opera that proved unacceptable to many who saw the first performances. Speaker Erika Reitshamer is an engaging teacher whose knowledge and love of opera will inspire all, and her open style and sense of humor are irresistible. She has lectured on opera and great singers of opera for many years and was active in the formation of the Boston Lyric Opera more than 40 years ago.
