Have you wondered why people collect stamps or have you ever thought of starting a collection? Do you want to know the wide variety of stamps people collect and what started them as collectors? To answer these questions and others about the worldwide hobby of philately, the Spellman Museum has prepared this special exhibit. Both members and non-members have been invited to display sections of their personal collections along with an explanation of why they decided to collect different aspects of postal history and stamps. They also will explain the benefits garnered from their exploration of stamps. It is hoped that the displays will encourage more people to start collecting. Stamp collecting is one of the largest and oldest leisure activities in the world. Refreshments will be served and free stamp packets will be given to children who attend.

Alexandra Sheldon, an artist from Cambridge, spent several months painting in Weston in 2017/2018. She was entranced by the beautiful roads and trees. She was especially interested in the relationship between the rural and the infringement of the urban. Alexandra’s mother and stepfather had lived in Weston for years and returning to paint here was a nostalgic and lovely experience.
