Massachusetts has some of the best programs and financial incentives in the country to weatherize buildings, switch to less environmentally impactful heating and cooling systems and to go solar. Representatives from Weston who have first-hand experience with energy efficiency and solar programs will share their experiences and resources with attendees. Ankle strengthening will improve balance and stretching helps your posture. Learn how you can prevent falls; in the event of one you’ll learn techniques for managing trips and landings.

  5. Stress Management & Resiliency Training: A Mind-Body Program for Health & Resiliency

    Are you feeling stressed? This 8-week research-proven program developed by the Benson-Henry Institute at Mass. General, will help you develop self-care tools to manage your stress, reduce medical symptoms, and enhance quality of life. Led by Hannah Shulman, M.S. in the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Integrated Care management program, this program will use guided meditation, group discussion and home practice to empower you to take an active role in managing your health and well-being. Learn how to recognize your personal response to stress; meditative techniques to help elicit the Relaxation Response; how to change thought patterns and emotional outlook; and techniques to improve eating, sleeping, physical activity and overall health. Space is limited.

    New COA Fitness Class! Pilates is the original core workout! It consists of low-impact flexibility and strength movements done on an exercise mat on the floor and standing. Plus, Pilates helps you develop postural alignment, core (abdominal and torso) strength and balance. This class focuses on Pilates fundamentals and is appropriate for beginners as well as those with some experience. Modifications are available for each exercise, so you can participate fully and safely. $5 per class.
