The Weston High School Theater Company invites you and your family to see "Radium Girls" by D.W. Gregory.
"In 1926, radium was a not only a miracle cure but was also used in paint for luminous watch dials. Inspired by the true story of female laborers who were poisoned and killed by their factory’s radium-based paint, "Radium Girls" traces the efforts of Grace Fryer as she fights for her day in court against her chief adversary Arthur Roeder, the idealistic plant owner who cannot bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors could be responsible for the terrifying rash of illnesses. As the case goes on, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation but also with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire. Called a "powerful" and "engrossing" drama by critics, "Radium Girls" offers a wry, unflinching look at the American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science."
